Simply Relaxing Tour
As it is named this activity is designed for the pure pleasure of paddling.
We depart from the Loam Island Community Facility and cruise upstream at your own speed.
We explore the banks of the river taking in the scenery and sights around us at a tranquil, peaceful pace. I will point out some of the more interesting items as we move along.
Your choice is either a morning or afternoon trip. The maximum number of persons is 8 per group, however, 6 is preferred. There is no minimum number.
Sunset on Ross River Tour
This has to be the most spectacular time of day to cruise the Ross River. Wildlife abounds along the bank. As the daylight fades colours become stronger and more pronounced and the wind dies away leaving smooth water fading to an evening sky.More and more city sounds recede as people driving by reduce in numbers.Eventually you are left paddling peacefully along the River deep in your own thoughts and the only sound is your paddle through the still water.
Bird & Wildlife Watching Tour
The times of the tours coincide with the prime time where wildlife congregates on our river banks. Most birds are foraging among the plants hunting their meals. Close to the water’s edge young wallabies and the occasional kangaroo feed on the fresh green plants. As they drink they keep a wary eye open for crocodiles. These are the Johnson’s crocodile (freshwater) which can be seen sunbaking on logs late in the evening. Many turtles frequent the same logs and often they drop into the water as you approach.
